17153 (2026). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Has the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade been in communication with representatives of Iran since March 2026, if so, for what purpose?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: Yes. Open dialogue with other states is a core feature of advancing New Zealand's foreign policy. Through diplomatic channels of communication with Iran the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade conveys New Zealand's positions and concerns directly and frankly. Since March 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has directly and frankly conveyed to Iran, New Zealand's positions and concerns related to the conflict.
