17149 (2026). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Education: Does the new SMART tool regularly retrieve updated core student information at agreed intervals for all schools in an automated fashion by triggering a refresh of data from the Ministry of Education source of truth for student information and if not, why not?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) only receives updated student data from the schools’ student management systems (SMS). Schools are the primary source of information and update data as required. This provides the Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool (SMART) the class centric details that it requires. Class details are not held by the Ministry. This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 17150 and 17151 (2026).
