17123 (2026). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Education: Were the parents of students consulted in the development of the SMART tool and if so, how?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that, before the Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool (SMART) went live, familiarisation sites were made available so that users and parents could become familiar with its look and feel. Schools and kura were invited to provide feedback to the Ministry through the familiarisation site here: https://newzealandcurriculum.tahurangi.education.govt.nz/5637300577.p?activeTab=tab:3. This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 17124,17145 and 17146 (2026).
