17105 (2025). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: What is the Minister's stance on community funding from gambling?

Hon Brooke van Velden: Many community organisations do great work with funding they receive from gambling proceeds. However I recognise that this can create a perverse incentive to increase gambling in order to increase community funding. It is important to me that community funding from gambling goes towards initiatives that deliver to maximum benefit to New Zealanders in an efficient way.
