17097 (2026). Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister responsible for RMA Reform: What resources, including funding and staffing, will be allocated within the proposed Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport to ensure that all parts of this new ministry do better for the environment?

Hon Chris Bishop: The existing funding and staffing resources of each agency affected by the machinery of government change, with their corresponding work programmes, will be transferred to the Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport on 1 July 2026. Future resourcing decisions will be made by the Chief Executive, working with relevant Ministers including the Minister for the Environment and the Minister of Climate Change.
