17092 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education: In response to Reply 15131 (2025), what feedback and assessments, if any, have Ministry staff onsite at schools provided regarding Ka Ora, Ka Ako programme lunches?

Hon David Seymour: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that Ministry staff connect with schools in the programme every school day, either onsite or online. Through this engagement, the Ministry assesses the level of service from the supplier, performs spot checks on the lunches received, and collects feedback from schools on how the programme is operating for each school. This information is collated and will be included within the formal review of each external model supplier, iwi/hapu provider or internal school kitchen. The Ministry has recently begun reviewing the current distribution methods used in schools to assist in the preparation of an efficient distribution method and support for schools from Term 3, 2025.
