16872 (2026). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Associate Minister for Energy: Further to WPQ 11810 (2026), what evidence, if any, has the Ministry received to verify oil company assurances that their supply chains "continue to operate as normal"?
Hon Shane Jones: The Ministry has received information from fuel importers on a rolling basis to support their assurances that supply chains continue to operate as normal. This includes updates on current and near‑term fuel stock levels, the status of cargoes that are en route or being scheduled, information on refinery operations and shipping conditions, and importer assessments of their ability to meet domestic demand. The Ministry also relies on regular engagement with fuel importers through the Fuel Sector Coordination Entity, ongoing monitoring of international fuel markets and shipping conditions, and comparison of reported stock levels against minimum stockholding obligations.
