16815 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Does the Minister believe the Financial Markets Authority has adequate enforcement tools; if not, what is missing?

Cameron Brewer: Yes. The Financial Markets Conduct Amendment Bill currently before the House proposes making targeted amendments to improve the administration of the regulatory system. These include formalising on-site inspection powers for the Financial Markets Authority to support compliance monitoring and supervision, consistent with modern regulatory practice.
