16556 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: Further to her response to oral question 12 on 2 April 2025, where she said "But what I will say is we are seeing far too much compliance cost. We want people to be focused on those critical risks of serious injury and death at work. Businesses have far too much red tape and regulation, and they need our help as a Government to clarify the law on where their focus should be." how many workers, if any, did she speak to in those businesses and how many of them were small businesses?
Hon Brooke van Velden: In the course of my roadshows and consultation over 1,000 people provided feedback on the health and safety system. As the roadshow events were organised by those in the communities I visited, and were generally open invite and attended by a wide range of people, I did not record the status of attendees. But around a quarter of all submissions were from employees, and around a quarter of submissions from businesses were from businesses with fewer than 20 employees.
