16532 (2026). Oriini Kaipara to the Minister of Housing: What guidance, if any, currently exists within Kāinga Ora for protecting long standing community led social service hubs when redevelopment or land reclamation is proposed?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities advises me that it acts within the scope of the Kāinga Ora Homes and Communities Act 2019, with its core function to provide rental housing and appropriate accommodation. Typically, it is the role of local Council and/or NGOs to provide social service hubs. This is also my response to written questions 16868 and 16869 (2026).
