16324 (2025). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Associate Minister of Justice: What is the total amount spent by the Ministry of Justice on external consultants to date (if anything) related to work on the Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi Bill?

Hon David Seymour: I am advised that the Ministry of Justice has spent $373,933 to ensure the unprecedented number of submissions on the Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi Bill were analysed. I note the member has said, ‘I want everyone in New Zealand to be given a fair say…if we're going to invite people to have their say, that's a critically important thing.’ I agree. Making it possible for New Zealanders to engage with democracy is the best possible use of Parliament's funding.
