16297 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What private ophthalmology facilities, if any, are currently within practical reach of patients in West Coast, Lakes, Bay of Plenty, and Taranaki districts?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that ophthalmology patients in West Coast, Lakes, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki districts can access private ophthalmology facilities in Christchurch, Rotorua, Tauranga and New Plymouth respectively. I am further advised that these communities also have access to ophthalmology services in their public hospitals.
