16295 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Rail: How much was spent on the new railway sleepers that sit along the Northland railway line?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: Approximately, 10,000 concrete sleepers were deposited along the rail line between Kauri and Towai, in preparation for the line upgrade to Otiria. The sleepers had a unit price of $100. The planned upgrade was paused in 2022 but is now part of Marsden Point Rail Link proposal.
