16164 (2025). Rawiri Waititi to the Minister of Health: What timeline, if any, is Health New Zealand working to for the full resumption of secondary maternity services at Whakatāne Hospital?

Hon Simeon Brown: As the Member will be aware, Health New Zealand has active recruitment underway with five Senior Medical Officer contracts offered, one of which has been accepted. I am advised that full secondary obstetric and gynaecology services will commence when a minimum of four obstetricians have completed any required clinical supervision.
