16139 (2025). Rawiri Waititi to the Minister of Police: What training, if any, do frontline Police officers receive in identifying and responding to neurodivergent behavior in rangatahi, and is any of this training delivered by kaupapa Māori providers, if not, why not?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that frontline Police officers receive training in identifying and responding to neurodivergent behaviour through several programmes. Recruits at The Royal New Zealand Police College receive diversity and neurodivergent training and participate in the Tuia – Valuing Diversity programme, which includes interactions with volunteers from disabled communities and other groups. Additionally, Police staff deliver neurodiversity training across districts.
