16111 (2025). Rawiri Waititi to the Minister of Revenue: Has the Government undertaken any work, if any, on public consultation regarding tax fairness, equity, or system reform since taking office?

Hon Simon Watts: Inland Revenue published a consultation document on the scope of its next Long-Term Insights Briefing (LTIB) in August 2024. This briefing indicated that the topic of the next LTIB will look at what broad structure of the tax system will be suitable for the future in the face of long-term fiscal pressures. Inland Revenue plans to release the next LTIB in June 2025.
