16069 (2025). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister responsible for RMA Reform: Has the Minister received any advice on how the proposed RMA changes will impact Māori land and resource management rights; if so, will he release that advice; if not, why not?

Hon Chris Bishop: In my capacity as the Minister Responsible for RMA Reform, I have received preliminary advice on the potential impacts of our reform proposals on Māori rights and interests and Treaty of Waitangi matters and more detailed advice is expected as policy options are developed further. The Regulatory Impact Statement for these proposals, which includes preliminary analysis of Treaty impacts, has been published on the Ministry for the Environment's website at: https://environment.govt.nz/what-government-is-doing/cabinet-papers-and-regulatory-impact-statements/replacing-the-rma1991/
