16059 (2025). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister for Infrastructure: Has the Minister received any advice on the potential environmental impacts of the Fast-Track Approvals Act 2024 on Māori land; if so, what did that advice say; if not, why not?

Hon Chris Bishop: I have received advice on the potential impacts of the legislative process on Māori land, however any potential environmental impacts on Māori land will be project and location specific. There are protections for Māori land built into the application process, including in the ineligibility criteria, and environmental effects can be addressed with landowners through those mechanisms.
