16017 (2025). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: What actions, if any, has he taken to revive rehabilitation programmes that are no longer running due to ongoing staffing shortages in prisons?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections is continuously reviewing the programmes and services they deliver to ensure people are accessing the best possible rehabilitation and support at the right time. Work is underway to expand rehabilitation programmes for people on remand following the additional investment for this in Budget 2024, and the Corrections Amendment Act 2024 passing into law late last year. Corrections is also looking more broadly at what evidence we have that the programmes and services we deliver are achieving what they were set up and funded to do. This will ensure we are focusing our funding on well-targeted, well-used programmes and services that produce results in reducing reoffending.
