15914 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Local Government: Which councils, if any, have been provided funding from DIA, or any other source, for the implementation of government's Local Water Done Well policy, and if so how much funding has been provided for each of those councils?

Hon Simon Watts: 66 territorial authorities, and Greater Wellington Regional Council received reprioritised funding from the Department of Internal Affairs for the implementation of the Government’s Local Water Done Well policy. In March 2024, Cabinet agreed to retain and reprioritise existing sector support funding, held in the Water Services Reform multi-category appropriation to be applied to the implementation of Local Water Done Well. Cabinet also agreed to repurpose and redirect any unspent Better Off funding committed to the Water Services Reform: Better Off Support Package multi-year appropriation to be repurposed towards the implementation of Local Water Done Well.
