15900 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Associate Minister of Education: How many, if any, school lunches were wasted and not returned to the School Lunch Collective during the week of March 24th 2025, expressed as an overall number?

Hon David Seymour: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) does not hold data in a way to answer the question. I can advise you that for the week of 24 March 2025, there was 38,749 (6.87%) surplus meals not eaten by students and returned to the School Lunch Collective production kitchens across the country. Under the old programme, in Term 4, 2023, approximately 9 per cent of lunches were surplus.
