15392 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Statistics: What was the composition - in percentage terms - of sources of energy consumed to power or heat buildings, if any, in the Minister’s department’s, agencies, crown entities or any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, in 2023?

Hon Scott Simpson: I am advised that the composition of energy used to power and heat Stats NZ buildings, expressed in percentage terms, is 100 percent electricity. Stats NZ’s offices are in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch and grid electricity is the primary source across all locations. In Wellington, on-site solar generation contributes a small proportion of total electricity consumption – forming part of the overall electricity share, as follows: • 2023: 4% of electricity consumption • 2024: 3% of electricity consumption • 2025: 4% of electricity consumption This is also my response to Written Parliamentary Questions 15396, 15403, 15411, 15413, 15415, 15715, 15733, 15742, 15745, 1574 7, 15760, 16055, 16076, 16075, 16077, 16081, 16096 (2026).
