15320 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Health: What was the composition - in percentage terms - of sources of energy consumed to power or heat buildings, if any, in the Minister’s department’s, agencies, crown entities or any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, in 2023?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that for the 2023/24 financial year 100% of the Ministry of Health’s buildings were powered by electricity sourced from the National Grid. Of those buildings,14% were heated by compressed natural gas and 86% heated by electricity. I am further advised that Health New Zealand does not hold this information historically. However, I refer the Member to the attached table, which outlines the current proportion of energy type used to power and heat Health New Zealand hospital campuses as at 17 April 2026.
