Francisco Hernandez to the Prime Minister: What was the composition - in percentage terms - of sources of energy consumed to power or heat buildings, if any, in the Minister’s department’s, agencies, crown entities or any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, in 2025?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the responsible minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was a departmental agency hosted by DPMC until 25 September 2025. The Cyclone Recovery Chief Executive was a functional Chief Executive appointed under the Public Service Act 2020 in March 2023 and disestablished with effect from 1 July 2025. I am advised that electricity and natural gas is used to power or heat buildings leased or owned by DPMC. Petrol and liquefied petroleum gas is not used. The composition of sources of energy (electricity and natural gas) consumed to power or heat buildings for the financial years 2020/21 to 2024/25 is attached. I am advised that information relating to energy sources in buildings occupied by NEMA is not held by DPMC.
