15178 (2025). Benjamin Doyle to the Minister for Sport and Recreation: Does the Minister believe that transgender people should be able to participate in sports teams which accurately reflect their gender identity?

Hon Mark Mitchell: As the Member will be aware, the National-New Zealand First Coalition Agreement agreed to ensure publicly funded sporting bodies support fair competition that is not compromised by rules relating to gender. SportNZ have been asked to provide advice on their Guiding Principles for the Inclusion of Transgender People in Community Sport by June 2025.
