15174 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Finance: What was the composition - in percentage terms - of sources of energy consumed to power or heat buildings, if any, in the Minister’s department’s, agencies, crown entities or any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, in 2023?
Hon Nicola Willis: I am advised the Treasury is a tenant at No 1 The Terrace. Power and heat for common areas are included in the gross lease rental and therefore cannot be proportioned. In addition, The Treasury pays for electricity separately to power the tenancy (levels 2-4).
From July 2023 the Christchurch office has 100% electricity.
For the Guardians of NZ Superannuation and the Government Superannuation Fund Authority I am advised they use 100% electricity.
For RBNZ I am advised they use a combination of electricity, gas and diesel – there is not sufficient data to provide an accurate composition percentage.
For the Natural Hazards Commission, I am advised that electricity was the only energy source consumed to power or heat buildings each year between 2020-2025.
