15139 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What steps, if any, is the Minister taking to address concerns from industry groups, such as the Association of Consulting and Engineering, about a lack of work currently in the market?

Hon Chris Bishop: I have met with the Association of Consulting and Engineering and while I note that there is a record amount of investment in infrastructure, I am also considering several steps in response to industry's immediate concerns including - asking the New Zealand Transport Agency to consider how to bring packages of projects to the market sooner, - encouraging councils to use their budgets to prioritise spending on renewals and maintenance, - seeking advice on how Government could better measure actual and forecast project spend against the pipeline.
