15086 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What, if any, funding has been specifically allocated to paediatric palliative care initiatives under the National Palliative Care Work Programme?
Hon Simeon Brown: Access to paediatric palliative care is a key part of ensuring children and their parents can get the care they need at an incredibly distressing time for families. As the Member will be aware, Health New Zealand has released a proposed Paediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Palliative
Model of Care. I refer the Member to Health New Zealand's website: https://www.tewhatuora.govt.nz/assets/For-health-professionals/Clinical-guidance/Specific-life-stage/Palliative-care/Paediatric-Adolescent-and-Young-Adult-Palliative-Model-of-Care-Summary-Paper-for-feedback.pdf
I am advised that funding for paediatric palliative care services will be considered when the model has been finalised.
