15073 (2025). Rawiri Waititi to the Minister of Corrections: On what date was the Department of Corrections first made aware that Dean Wickliffe had commenced a hunger strike, reportedly beginning on 10 March 2025?

Hon Mark Mitchell: Corrections’ protocol and guidelines for people refusing food and/or fluids is available on their website at https://www.corrections.govt.nz/resources/policy_and_legislation/Prison-Operations-Manual/Wellbeing/W.03-Voluntary-refusal-of-food-and-or-fluids-hunger-strike I am advised that Corrections was notified by Dean Wickliffe on 6 March 2025 that he was on a voluntary refusal of food due to being recalled to prison, and immediately followed the above protocol. This is also my response to WPQ 15074 (2024).
