14690 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Defence: What consultations did the Minister’s departments, if any, open on the week beginning 17 March with employees around any changes to employment roles, employment numbers and any other employment conditions, and how many roles were affected?

Hon Judith Collins: On Thursday 20 March 2025, the New Zealand Defence Force began consultation on a change process affecting employment roles and positions within its civilian workforce. The proposal would disestablish 380 currently filled positions, while creating 293 new roles. This could lead to a reduction of about 80 employees at the end of the process. Consultation closes on Thursday 17 April 2025.
