14602 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Prime Minister: How many litres of diesel, if any, did vehicle fleets in the Minister’s department’s, agencies, crown entities or any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, consume in 2024?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the responsible minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was a departmental agency hosted by DPMC until 25 September 2025. The Cyclone Recovery Chief Executive was a functional Chief Executive appointed under the Public Service Act 2020 in March 2023 and disestablished with effect from 1 July 2025. I am advised by DPMC that information relating to diesel and petrol usage in litres for DPMC owned vehicles are not held in a format that can easily be extracted. To provide this information requires a manual search of payment transactions, and their supporting invoices or other detail of the six years. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210/6, I consider that the time and resources, and hence the expense, required to answer this question and similar questions within the timeframe allowed for written parliamentary questions is not in the public interest. I am advised that information relating to diesel and petrol consumption for NEMA vehicles is not held by DPMC. I refer the member to the responses provided by the Minister for Emergency Management and Recovery for Written Parliamentary Questions 14431 (2026), 14432 (2026), 14439 (2026), 14441 (2026), 14443 (2026), 14450 (2026), 14769 (2026), 14770 (2026), 14774 (2026), 14777 (2026), 14779 (2026), and 14780 (2026).
