14593 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Local Government: What advice, if any, has the Minister received on the long-term financial sustainability of Watercare under the Charter’s funding model?

Hon Simon Watts: The long-term financial sustainability of Watercare has been a key focus of the Watercare Charter throughout its development. It should be noted that the Charter is an interim measure, from 30 June 2028 Watercare will be subject to the economic regulation regime that will be introduced through the Local Government (Water Services) Bill.
