14529 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How many litres of diesel, if any, did vehicle fleets in the Minister’s department’s, agencies, crown entities or any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, consume in 2024?
Hon Brooke van Velden: Department of Internal Affairs:
I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs that the diesel consumption figures by financial year are set out in the attached table. For the purpose of answering this question, the figures include diesel used from all sources. This includes fuel used by a patrol boat and a tractor, as part of the Lake Tāupo harbourmaster function which are not part of the road vehicle fleet. The Department is unable to separately identify or exclude this fuel from the data.
Classification Office:
I am advised by the Classification Office that they do not own or lease any vehicles.
Lotto NZ:
I am advised by Lotto NZ that vehicle fleets consumed zero litres of diesel in 2024.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand:
I am advised that Fire and Emergency New Zealand does not centrally record the exact volume of fuel used across all suppliers. However, it does record fuel volumes for suppliers representing approximately 95 percent of total fuel spend. An estimate has been derived by scaling this data to account for the remaining 5 percent. On this basis, estimated fuel consumption is outlined in the attached table.
