14357 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Defence: What was the composition of vehicle fleets, if any, in the Minister’s department’s, agencies, crown entities or any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, by fuel type in percentage terms in 2021?

Hon Chris Penk: The requested information cannot be provided within the required timeframe as would require diverting resources from departmental priorities and service delivery, which I do not consider would be in the public interest. However, I am advised that at 8 April 2026, approximately 10% of the NZDF vehicle fleet was petrol vehicles, and approximately 81% was diesel vehicles. The remainder are electric vehicle variants and those where fuel type is not recorded.
