14141 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Statistics: How, if at all, does the updating of economic statistics feature in the Minister's work programme, if any?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: Stats NZ is investing in improving economic statistics. This includes: - Investing in a new system to calculate price indexes that will ensure ongoing delivery of critical price statistics and enable more flexibility in the future. - Continuing to improve the monthly Selected prices indexes with additional data sources towards a monthly CPI. - Planning for the implementation of new international standards for macroeconomic statistics that were adopted by the United Nations in March 2025, and which modernise the way economic activity is measured.
