14078 (2026). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Conservation: What approvals or consents, if any, did the Department of Conservation permit at Pukepuke Lagoon?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Department of Conservation has approved a range of concession applications that authorise different types of activities within the Pukepuke Lagoon area. A number of these concessions are national in scope, with a low likelihood of any activity occurring at Pukepuke Lagoon itself, for example, WARO (Wild Animal Recovery Operations). There are currently 11 active concessions that are in place at Pukepuke Lagoon: three relating to lizard surveys, five for research and collection activities, one for pest animal trapping, and two for water monitoring and management.
