Hon Shane Jones: Fuel disruption planning under the Fuel Response Plan 2026 applies nationally including to rural and isolated communities. MBIE works with fuel suppliers, emergency management agencies, and regional stakeholders to monitor distribution conditions and respond to localised pressures as they arise. Should fuel supply be constrained, the Fuel Response Plan provides for fuel to be prioritised to essential services. This includes services operating in rural or isolated areas where fuel access is critical to maintaining health, safety, and essential supply chains. Regional impacts can vary depending on demand and logistics, and these are monitored so that responses can be adjusted as needed.
