Hon Penny Simmonds: I refer the member to the following papers which contain advice I have received on un-subsidised domestic students at New Zealand universities AM-25-01180 - University enrolment forecasts and projected unfunded delivery – 12 September 2025 AM-25-1402 - Impact of 2025 enrolment growth and identified financial pressures – 15 October 2025 AM-26-00368 - Overview of university and wānanga sectors – current work and priorities – 9 April 2026 Any reference to unsubsidised student enrolments in Tertiary initiatives seeking funding through Budget 26 remain under active consideration and are Budget sensitive and confidential until after Budget Day (28/5/26).
