13996 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What does a Ministry of Social Development 'work check-in' involve for people who have been receiving a main benefit for six months?
Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development that clients attend a presentation which outlines client obligations and reiterates the importance of meeting them, and provides information on preparing for and finding work. Clients then have a one on one conversation with Case Managers to ensure the client is taking sufficient steps to become work-ready, apply for jobs, and to make a plan for their next steps/activities.
