13992 (2026). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Conservation: Would the Department of Conservation provide a departmental report to the select committee considering the Fisheries Amendment Bill on its potential implications for marine conservation; if not, why not?
Hon Tama Potaka: Typically, public servants from the department of the Minister in charge of a bill act as advisers to a select committee considering that bill, including by providing the departmental report. The lead agency for the Fisheries Amendment Bill is the Ministry for Primary Industries. The Ministry for Primary Industries may seek the Department of Conservation’s advice for inclusion in its departmental report.
