13990 (2026). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Associate Minister for Energy: What assessments, if any, has been undertaken on the impact of diesel price increases on essential goods and services in regional communities?

Hon Shane Jones: I have received advice on diesel price increases given the critical nature of diesel to New Zealand. The Fuel Security Study, available publicly, modelled the impact of diesel price increases on the economy. Officials are also undertaking assessments of regional fuel distribution challenges and the potential flow on impacts of diesel price increases on essential goods and services in regional communities and they will provide further advice as these assessments are completed. Officials are also in the process of proactively releasing paper titles on the MBIE website.
