13940 (2026). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: What diplomatic engagement, if any, did New Zealand undertake between June 2025 and February 2026 to prepare for the possibility of a Strait of Hormuz closure affecting New Zealand's fuel supply?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: Diplomatic engagement took place bilaterally and multilaterally to engagement to strengthen the resilience of New Zealand's fuel supply chains. New Zealand's offshore post network was tasked to engage with partners on the conflict between Iran and Israel, and its longer-term implications. The purpose of the tasking was to inform New Zealand's policy response. Economic impacts on New Zealand, including due to potential disruptions in oil supply through the Strait of Hormuz, was identified as an area to focus in diplomatic engagements with a range of partners including those in the Asia-Pacific.
