Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Lead Coordination Minister for the Government's Response to the Royal Commission’s Report into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions: How, if at all, will the agency Chief Executives on the Safety in Care Leadership Group be held accountable for working together as leaders, governors and stewards, rather than as individual agency Chief Executives, to deliver change?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Chief Executives who are members of the Safety in Care System Leadership Group have been mandated by Cabinet to work collectively across the care system to provide system leadership. The Chief Executives remain accountable to Parliament through existing mechanisms, including annual performance reviews, annual reports, and scrutiny by select committees. These mechanisms provide transparency and assurance about how Chief Executives are discharging both their individual responsibilities and their obligations to work collaboratively where Cabinet has directed a system wide approach. The Group will also provide regular updates and reporting to me as the responsible Minister on progress, risks, and delivery of agreed priorities. Together, these arrangements ensure that Chief Executives are held accountable both individually and collectively for working across the system to deliver sustained improvements in care safety.
