13889 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: What changes, if any, were made to Tenancy Services bond processing methods after 1 November 2025 and for each, what was the purpose of the change?

Hon Tama Potaka: After 1 November 2025, Tenancy Services implemented a number of changes to bond processing methods as part of the modernisation of the tenancy bond system. The changes are set out below: • Online bond services (Bond Hub) • Tenant payment nomination • Digital refund requests via connected property management software • Refund processes for non connected users • Use of Tenant ID numbers • Improved communication channels • Introduction of pet bonds and pet consent rules • Several process changes were made to how digital applications were processed as part of continuous improvement activities.
