13878 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: How many bond refund requests, if any, received and processed by Tenancy Services since 1 December 2025 had funds withheld from the refund to tenants and what was the total value of the funds withheld?

Hon Tama Potaka: Since 1 December 2025 to 16 April 2026, Tenancy Services has received 70,083 bond refund requests. Of these: • 510 are in dispute with an available bond balance value of $472,764; and • 24,898 are refund requests where some or all of the bond was claimed by the landlord, with a total value of $23,155,388. Note: For the purpose of this response, scenarios where funds could be considered “withheld” from tenants are assumed to be cases where the refund cannot be issued due to the bond being in dispute, or where the bond was allocated to and claimed in full or in part by the landlord.
