13749 (2026). Scott Willis to the Minister for Energy: Was the Commerce Commission consulted or informed on the decision to stop publishing estimates of importer fuel margins on the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment website?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that following the start of the current conflict in the Middle East, officials from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) met with officials from the Commerce Commission to discuss respective approaches to monitoring fuel prices in this context. MBIE advised the Commerce Commission in this meeting that the publication of importer margin estimates would be temporarily paused.
