13732 (2026). Mike Davidson to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Do career firefighters receive refresher live fire training, and if so, what is the mean, medium and range number of days between the initial live fire training and the first refresher live training for all currently employed career firefighters?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by Fire and Emergency that there is no requirement for standalone live fire refresher training for career firefighters. However, there are components of live fire training in all career firefighter progression training, covered in their advancement Training and Progression System. I am further advised that a redevelopment of Training and Progression System is being undertaken, with the expectation that competency maintenance refresher training, including live fire, will be an explicit requirement.
