13727 (2026). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: How many neighbourhood policing teams have been disestablished or redeployed since January 2024 to date, by council area?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that while several teams referenced by districts had been disestablished, repurposed, or converted prior to January 2024, since then two Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) have been redeployed to other Policing functions. Both of these were in the Canterbury District. In August 2024, the Central Christchurch Neighbourhood Policing Team was redeployed to supplement beat positions. In 1 July 2025, the Aranui Neighbourhood Policing Team was redeployed to form the Retail Crime Team, remaining based at New Brighton.
