13600 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Conservation: What is the total expenditure, if any, on consultants and contractors by any agencies under the Minister’s responsibility since 27 November 2023, broken down by agency, provider, and purpose?

Hon Tama Potaka: Like many Government agencies, DOC brings in external specialists – such as engineering and technical consultancy – when expertise isn’t available in-house, or is not cost-effective to permanently retain in-house, or for fixed term project-based assignments. This also includes major projects to modernise systems such as SAP, the HRIS system (new HR system), the regulatory systems and DOC booking systems for visits. I am advised that the Department of Conservation spent $46.836m from 27 November 2023 to 28 Feb 2025 on consultants and contractors, broken down by provider and purpose in the attached table.
