13482 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Statistics: What is the total expenditure, if any, on domestic and international travel by any agencies under the Minister’s responsibility since 27 November 2023, broken down by agency, purpose, and destination?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised by Stats NZ that a total of $2,920,661 was spent on domestic and international travel for the time period 1 November 2023 to 28 February 2025. Of this, $2,684,546 was spent on domestic travel and $236,115 on international travel. To provide the requested breakdown for domestic travel, Stats NZ would have to divert personnel from their core duties to provide the information sought by the Member. Therefore, in accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210/6, I consider that the time and expense of answering to this part of the Member’s question, relating to domestic travel, is not in the public interest. For information on international travel, I refer the member to the attached table which includes travel (departures) in this period.
